In July we will be moving house out to a plant nursery that is closing for business. Our new house will be two rondavels: one to use as a bedroom for private life, one to use as a kitchen/living room for general living. We are so excited! The nursery is lush and green, comes with a prolific orchard (grapefruit, oranges, and lemons), and is very peaceful.
The sleeping side of the rondavel - with drapes, tiny little closet, and bathroom door in the background
The right side of the bedroom rondavel- with kitchenette, desk, and two empty bunkbeds to store suitcases and camping gear on
The living area rondavel (with Mosetsana obediently sitting in front)Right now the inside is empty with mud walls and a bumpy concrete floor
but we are working on designing a basic kitchen and lights which will hopefully be installed before we arrive in July.
The rondavels are about 50 yards apart from each other and we'll be sharing the nursery with our friend, Gagoitse, and her five kids. We are most excited about the great outdoor space. It will be much more conducive to sitting outside, braaing/barbecuing, and gardening. The space is also on the edge of the village so 100m out our front door is the edge of the bush: no more listening to two bars/shebeens with dueling stereo systems on the weekends, no more fighting off dogs as we walk to the edge of the village with our own, and lots more birds. Can't wait!
